An organisation that asks businesses to be transparent has to be transparent itself. Here’s how Nullware Project is set up, run and funded.

How we’re run
Small today, with two people from the first review, and a board as soon as there is something to govern.
Now
Two people, separate jobs
Whoever reviews an application never decides it. Every decision is written down with the clauses behind it. Appeals go to someone who took no part.
Next
A board, with an independent director
Formed at 25 members or 12 months after the first certification, whichever comes first. Paid reviewers from marketing, privacy and consumer rights join as reviews grow.
Always
Public consultation on the Standard
Changes to the Standard are published as drafts first. Members and the public get time to comment before anything changes.
Quarterly
Accounts and a plain report
What we reviewed, who joined, who left, what we spent and what we got wrong. Once a year, the same in one document.

Independence rules
These apply to everyone involved, including the founder.
We never take money from ad-tech companies, data brokers, advertising platforms or agencies.
Reviewers declare their interests and never review an employer, a client, a competitor, or anyone who has paid them in the past three years.
No payment, sponsorship or relationship can buy a certification or prevent a removal.
Every removal is published with the date, the clause and the reason, in plain language, after due process.
No donations from applicants, members, their owners or directors, or makers of analytics and privacy tools.
No sponsorship, referral fees or affiliate links from any tool vendor. Guides name tools only as examples, with alternatives.
Organisations that donate, and anyone giving more than £1,000, are named publicly.

Two people run the reviews and decisions today. More join as the register grows.
Roland Erich
Founder
Writes the Standard, runs reviews and answers for both. Never decides a case he reviewed.
Ana Landor
Decisions and appeals
Decides applications on the reviewer’s written recommendation, and never reviews the same case.

Paid a fixed fee per review, the same whatever the outcome. Training provided.

Money
Fees pay for reviews. They are published, scaled to headcount and paid whatever the outcome. Founding members pay nothing until 2028. Donations come from individuals only, never from applicants or members, and are taken on a hosted checkout page so nothing on this site tracks you.

Your evidence, and our own data
We ask members to publish where data goes and how long it stays. Here is ours.
Applicants’ evidence
Seen only by the reviewer and the decision-maker. Kept on our own UK or EU storage, never in personal accounts or personal AI tools. Deleted 90 days after the decision.
Our data map
Website hosting, our own form handler, our newsletter tool with tracking off, a hosted donation page, our accounting software. Nothing else receives anything.
Our incidents
If anything we hold is exposed, we follow pledge P-5 ourselves: you hear within 72 hours, and it goes on this page.
